EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 programme "Manor Schools - preservation through use"


The focus of EEA Grants Programme 2009-2014 for cultural and natural heritage is the preservation and revitalisation of manor schools. Look further.
The history of manor schools date back to 1920’s when more than 200 schools were opened in former manor houses, there are still ca 60 rural schools running in these architecturally and historically valuable and prestigious buildings.
The aim of the Programme is in addition to the restoration works to emphasize on the sustainability of rural schools and strenghten the cooperation between schools, municipalities and local NGO’s and enterprises.

The programme was approved by the Donors on October 2nd, 2012.

Programme activities

The Programme is coordinated by Ministry of Culture. The advisory body for the Programme is Cooperation Committee representing:
  • Norwegian Riksantikvaren
  • Estonian Ministry of Culture
  • Estonian Ministry of Education and Science
  • Association of Estonian Manor Schools
